Since it is our first time releasing a game to the app store and Google play, we anticipated that there were going to be a few missteps here and there. After all,it is a learning experience.
Though we released Red Sea Exodus to Google play on September 2nd, it is yet to be approved for the Apple store (as many of you devoted followers know). At first, we were biting our nails, nervous it wouldn’t get approved at all because of its theme. We heard through the grapevine from another Indie Developer that Apple takes anything with a religious connotation very seriously and gives ’em a lil’ more love before approving or denying. After all, gotta make sure you don’t offend anyone.
So a week passes, and we’re on edge. By this point, we’ve all developed a few extra wrinkles on our foreheads, waiting for the blade to fall.
Two weeks pass.
Finally, we hear back from the Apple store. Good news and bad news. Bad news? Our app was denied. Good news? It had nothing to do with what we were fearing. The game itself was approved, though due to a linking aspect in the app, we simply needed to change a line or two of code, and it would be good to go.
So, fearing for the worst, hoping for the best. We may not have got the best, but we got the next best thing. As of now, the changes have been made, and it is again pending with the app store.
Personally, I am team iPhone (as are all the coolest kids). It has been frustrating to lead a marketing campaign without being to promote it with the device I use or all the other devices it will be available on. HOWEVER, look for it on iOS in the very near future.
